Collaboration between academia and industry is a powerful tool to foster innovation, test and implement best practices, research and optimise solutions.

The rapid development of translation technologies and the impressive results of neural machine translation represent a challenge not only for the future generation of translators, but also for potential customers who need a road map to navigate their way through the huge number of solutions available on the market. Moreover, it is now clear that the language data available in any institution or company represent a real treasure trove that can be exploited on various levels.

This workshop will present the research project carried out over 12 months of collaboration with the Ministry of Justice to assess the benefits of introducing translation technologies into a public administration work environment without interrupting the translation service and involving university students in the process, all in compliance with GDPR requirements.
The aim is to describe how the potential of augmented translation allowed us to use linguistic data with different tools to meet the needs of translators, the training needs of students and the privacy requirements of the Ministry of Justice.
